SACMHA’s New Peer Support Coordinator

Dr Hawa Yatera: PhD, MPH, DipEd, RN, MBE

Hawa is a Community Public Health specialist with over 15 years of experience in community collaborative intervention and research.

She is an adult tutor, assessor and a First Aid Mental Health Champion.

She has also won several awards for community leadership, engagement, peer support, mentoring, and empowerment of underserved communities.

Her interests focus on improving the quality of lives of deprived communities through community engagement and partnership interventions and addressing social determinants of health.

Her inspiration is to raise the voices of the most marginalised individuals, families, and communities. She loves to see people happy and valued and address preventable inequalities.
